Pull requests

Create, fix, review, and merge a pull request without leaving the chat that wrote the code.

Create a pull request
After you push the chat's branch, Create pull request opens it on GitHub from the Git tab. GitHub must be set up on the computer.
Review and comment
Read the description, files, commits, and checks in the Pull requests tab. Comment on a line, then submit the review as Comment, Approve, or Request changes.
Fix with this chat
A failing check or a review comment has a Fix with this chat button. The chat makes the fix, runs the tests that cover it, and pushes to the branch.
Merge
Merge pull request waits for running checks. On the pull request's page, choose a merge commit, squash, or rebase, and confirm once.
Read or revert a commit
History shows the commit graph beside the chosen commit's files and diff. Revert adds a commit that undoes it, and nothing is pushed.
Follow it from another device
A browser paired to your computer and an iPhone show the same Pull request section and next action in the Git tab.

What the Git tab offers next

  • Create pull request: the branch is pushed and has no pull request.
  • Push 2: two local commits are not in the pull request yet.
  • Fix checks: a check failed.
  • Fix conflicts: the branch conflicts with its base.
  • Merge pull request: the checks passed. It waits while checks run and while the pull request is a draft.
  • Open on GitHub, and Watch or Stop watching, are in the menu.

Questions

GitHub must be set up on the computer, and the chat's branch must be pushed. If either is missing, the Pull request section is hidden.

No. The chat gets the comment quoted as review feedback, marked when its author isn't a collaborator on the repository. If the chat disagrees, it tells you why instead of changing the code.

Yes. On a pull request from another branch, the button reads Ask this chat and puts the message in the composer for you to send. On the chat's own pull request, Fix with this chat sends it at once.

Yes. History shows each commit's files and diff. Revert asks first and adds a new commit that undoes the one you chose. Nothing is pushed until you press Push.

Yes, when your computer is reachable and your iPhone has permission. The Git tab shows the chat's pull request, its checks, and the next action. Fix checks and Push send a message to the chat, which does the work on your computer. The full Pull requests and History tabs are in the desktop app.

Yes. Watch wakes the chat when checks finish, a review arrives, or the branch conflicts. Stop watching ends it.
