You can share a chat or a file with a link that lasts 90 days, and share a file with people as a viewer or an editor.

Scroll down

You can now share a chat or a file with a link that lasts 90 days, and share a file with other people as a viewer or an editor. Code blocks in Chat replies have a copy button, and the home page shows the latest News.

Share chats

Share in a chat's header makes a link to a copy of the conversation as it is now. Anyone with the link can read it, and someone signed in can continue it as a new chat in their own account. Your name stays off the page unless you turn on Show my name, and attachments stay out unless you turn on Include attachments. Your memory and instructions are never part of the copy.

The link lasts 90 days. Update link copies the chat again with your newer messages, and Delete link ends it at once. Every link you have made is listed in Settings, under Account, with its expiry.

Share files

A document, spreadsheet, presentation, upload or artifact in Files can be shared two ways. You can add people as viewers or editors, and they see the file as it is, including later changes. Or you can copy a 90-day link to a copy of the file as it was when you made the link. Sharing files is part of Files, which comes with Pro and Max.

Sharing a slide deck: a teammate added as an editor, the file's link opened to anyone signed in, and a 90-day link copied.

A shared artifact can still show official data, such as government statistics, to people who open it. A page someone else made reads your own connected plugins only after you choose Allow. Share a chat or a file covers what a link holds and who can open it.

Other changes

  • Code blocks in Chat replies have a copy button. A block of plain text, such as an email written for you to send, wraps like a paragraph.
  • In desktop Chat, the conversation fades out just above the composer instead of behind it.
  • The home page shows the three newest News articles, followed by a wall of the model makers, coding agents and plugins you can use. The demo clips were recorded again.
  • A saved artifact records the version of each package it loads and checks that its files exist.
  • The artifact screen on iPhone has the same top bar as the other screens.
  • A plugin that signs in through its own server reuses its registration, so the server is not asked to register the app again on every sign-in.
