Create and manage shared assistants across Chat, Code, desktop, web, and mobile.
Agents across Chat and Code
Agents are available in Chat and Code. Each agent has a reusable profile with a name, purpose, instructions, and access settings. Chat uses that profile for conversations. Code uses it for delegated work within a local task. The profile belongs to the signed-in account; each conversation or task has its own context and permissions.

Agents created through these account-backed screens belong to the same shared list. They do not need to be recreated for each application. Their availability in Code still depends on sign-in, the Enabled setting, and runtime support. Agents in Code explains local execution and task permissions.
Create an agent
Open New agent, enter a name, and describe its purpose in ordinary language. For example: “Review changes for regressions and report the affected files and missing tests.” The purpose is optional and can be edited later. Save the form to add the agent to the shared list.
Some creation screens prepare initial instructions from the purpose and display Writing a short brief while that work completes. Review the agent's instructions, model preference, and access settings before using it for recurring work. Desktop Code's settings form creates the same kind of shared profile; it does not start a delegated run.
Use an agent in a conversation or task
In Chat, select an agent from the composer's model picker or open its home from the Agents list. Agent Home keeps a continuing conversation with that agent. The options menu provides Edit agent and Routines, where scheduled activities associated with the agent can be reviewed.
In Code, describe the assignment and request a suitable agent. For example: “Ask the review agent to inspect these changes without editing files.” The task's delegation mode determines whether the assignment can start automatically or requires approval. Creating a reusable profile and starting a delegated run are separate actions; a request to delegate does not by itself create a new profile in the shared list.
On mobile, Chat uses the account's agents directly. Remote shows runs on the paired computer, where the coding runtime and project remain. A shared agent's preferred Chat model does not select a Code runtime; Code currently inherits the parent task's runtime route.
Configure access and tools
Use Edit agent to change its name, purpose, model preference, capabilities, and access settings. Disabling an agent keeps its profile in the list but removes it from selection for new conversations and Code runs. Access offers Read-only and Project write; the current task's permissions still limit what it can do. Memory access follows the account setting by default, or can be set to Read-only or Off. Read-only allows relevant saved knowledge to be used without saving new dynamic facts; Off prevents memory recall.
For Chat, the model setting can inherit the conversation's choice or use a selected model. Skills and connectors are inherited when no individual items are selected. Selecting specific items narrows the agent's available capabilities. The relevant Chat or Code library must also have those capabilities installed and enabled.
Personality contains the agent's standing instructions and reusable methods. Notes provide short working context for its home conversation. Project-specific facts belong in project memory. Sharing a profile does not combine the agent's Chat home with its Code task transcripts.
The Dynamic Agents account setting is separate from manual creation and Code's delegation mode. Use the creation controls above to add a persistent profile, and the Code delegation controls to decide how tasks may assign work.
