Settings and preferences

Open Settings#

In web Chat, users open the account menu at the bottom of the left rail and select Settings. A computer browser shows a settings modal with left navigation and one scrollable body. Phone width shows a bottom sheet: selecting a section opens it, Back returns to the index, and closing the sheet restores Chat. Direct web paths use the pattern /chat/settings/section-name.

Web sections#

• Account — display name, session sign-out, notifications, Enter-to-send, and links to Terms and the Privacy Policy. Account deletion is currently unavailable as a web button; the Account section gives the published request route.
• Appearance — theme preset, system matching, interface font, code font, and motion preference.
• Speech & Voice — speech-to-text and text-to-speech defaults, plus named voice selection when the chosen voice model provides it.
• Projects and Archives — project instructions, memory switches, names, colors, archive, restore, and removal actions as the surface allows.
• Agents, Memory, Advanced, and Billing — named assistants and Dynamic Agents, retrieval and maintenance, Zero Data Retention and no-training filters, plans, usage, extra usage, checkout, and the billing portal.

Desktop settings#

The desktop application has a separate full-screen Settings route. Its shared group includes Account, Appearance, Speech, and Updates. Its Code group includes local data, Personalization, Composer, Keyboard, Runtimes & Models, Agents, Permissions, Git, Browser, Mobile Gateway, Explain, Usage & Budgets, and Archives. Its Chat group exposes account-backed Chat sections. Desktop Settings controls local Code behavior and account Chat behavior without merging their storage or authority.

Persistence and boundaries#

Settings values can be unavailable while the account or local runtime is loading. The interface preserves the last product location when Settings closes. A change applies at the boundary named by that section; an account preference does not become a repository setting, and a local Code setting does not change Chat billing.
