You ask. The chart shows up on the message.#

There is no chart button in the composer. Say what you want compared, or which series you want over time. The reply includes a card: the plot, a short note about whether the numbers are live, and a toolbar.

The same card shows up in Chat on the web, the PC app, and the iPhone, in an agent’s home thread, and in a Code task. In an agent’s home it sits in the bubble. In Code it stays in the transcript after the turn finishes, instead of collapsing into a “Worked for…” line.

A chart with missing or broken data stays on the page. It does not take the rest of the conversation with it.

Compare things that are not a timeline#

Ask to compare models, companies, countries, or anything else that is a set of names rather than dates. You get a scatter of named points, not a line pretending those names are months.

Each point can carry a name, a color for its group (a lab, a sector, a region), and a size for a third number. Click a group in the legend to hide or show it. The colors stay put when other groups are hidden.

A comparison can also draw a dashed line through the points that nothing else beats on both axes, and shade the corner you asked to care about. That line is the trade-off. It is not a trend through the middle. A cost axis can use a log scale so a cheap option and an expensive one are both readable. When the names still fit, they sit beside the dots.

Put the unit in the question. Cost per task is a different chart from list price per token. If only the list price exists, the axis and the footnote should say so.

A series over time#

For unemployment, a price, revenue, or anything dated, you get a time chart. Live sources are fetched from the publisher when the skill is enabled. The footer says Live data, Partly live, or Model-supplied values, names the sources, and can show an as of time.

You can ask for a derived line only: free cash flow, a margin, a series after inflation. The ingredients can stay off the plot. They remain cited, and Refresh data updates them. You do not have to subtract the columns yourself and paste the result back.

Yahoo Finance, Stooq, FRED, BLS, SEC, and World Bank are among the sources that can draw this way when that skill is on. Alpha Vantage does not automatically widen to a full paid history. Census, CFTC, and FDIC stay tables and cross-sections more often than long lines. You do not need the series code. Ask for the unemployment rate, or Apple’s revenue, and the assistant looks up the official id. Finance and Government list which plugin to install.

If more history exists than the opening window, range chips such as 1Y and All sit on the card, plus As drawn for the window the chart opened on. Click the dates to type a start or end: a year, a month, a quarter, or a full day. Customize opens an overview strip. Drag the window to move it, drag an edge to resize it, or click the strip to jump.

Change it only when the change is honest#

Customize is the slider on the toolbar. If nothing can be changed without faking the data, the control is hidden.

When it is there, you may see:

• Type — Line, Area, Bar, Pie, Donut, or Scatter
• Series — Side by side, Stacked, or 100%
• Scale — Linear or Log, on the value axis, and only when every visible value is positive
• Compare — the values as charted, every series indexed to 100, percent change, or change from a year earlier
• Labels — values on the marks

Categories that are not dates stay bars. You cannot turn a list of companies into a line. Pie and donut appear when one series has a readable number of slices. If indexed or year-over-year is on, a line under the plot says you are not looking at the raw level.

The model can pin a chart so Compare, log scale, or Customize disappears. A ranking that was drawn as bars can be asked to stay bars. A one-line footnote under the plot is for the caveat: the method, or a clear “illustrative” when the numbers are not a measurement.

Save it, or ask about one slice#

Show as table flips the card. The table shows the latest 400 rows and tells you to save the CSV for the rest. Show chart brings the plot back. A collapsed card is a Show chart button with the title and the source.

Save or copy offers Image (PNG), Copy image, Vector (SVG), and Data (CSV). On a phone, save uses the share sheet. In the PC app, you get a save dialog. Elsewhere the browser downloads the file. Copy reports Image copied, or that copy is not available. A failed save says it could not be saved. Refresh data is there for live sources. If refresh fails, the card says so and keeps the picture you had.

On a pie or a bar chart of categories, click a slice or a bar to ask about that point. Arrow keys and Enter do the same. Time series do not do this. Dragging a time series zooms. Clicking a bar does not.

Skills and plugins is how the data source gets installed. Without it, a chart can only use numbers the model typed, and the footer will say that.
