Interactive pages and artifacts
Have Chat draw an interactive page in a reply, or save one to Files as an artifact with versions and live data.
Two kinds of page
Chat can draw an interactive page inside a reply, such as an explainer, a diagram, or a small tool. That page belongs to the message and isn’t saved. For something you want to keep, Chat saves an artifact: an interactive page in Files → Generated → Artifacts, with a card in the chat that opens it. An artifact stays after the chat ends.
The Interactive UI plugin in Skills & Plugins controls both, for Chat and for Code. Agents can use it too.
Open an artifact
Click the card in the chat.
- Web and desktop — the page opens beside the chat. Drag its left edge to change the width. On a narrow screen it covers the chat until you close it.
- Code — the page opens as a tab in the work pane. It keeps running while another tab is in front.
- iPhone — the page opens full screen. Back, or a swipe from the left edge, returns to the chat.
The page has Reload and Download. Full screen is there too, except on iPhone, where the page is already full screen.
Versions
Ask Chat to change an artifact and it saves a new version with a few words on what changed. Use Version to open an earlier one. Each artifact keeps its last 30 versions, and the oldest go first. The card opens the version it sent, and a newer one is one click away.
Live data
A saved page can show live data. When Chat saves the page, it lists the plugin tools the page may call, up to six plugins and twelve tools on each. The page asks the app for the data, and the app runs each call with your own connection, so the page never sees your sign-in. A page can read from the plugins you’ve connected and from AI Integrator’s official data, such as government and finance data.
A page can only read. A call to a tool that could send, post, buy, or delete is refused, so do those in the chat. If a plugin isn’t connected for Chat, or its sign-in expired, the page shows a message. Reconnect it in Skills & Plugins. Turning off the plugin or Artifacts stops the calls.
Limits
A page runs in a sandbox with no network access of its own, and it can’t submit forms. An artifact is up to 512,000 bytes. It can load scripts, styles, fonts, and images from cdnjs.cloudflare.com, cdn.jsdelivr.net, and unpkg.com. A library from npm must name an exact version. A reply’s page can’t load anything from outside.
