Task browser

Open a task browser#

In the Code work pane, select New tab with the hint Search, review, or open a page. The Browser surface provides Search or enter a URL, plus bookmarks, recently opened pages, and local server discovery. Browser tabs stay alongside the task, review, and file surfaces so a page can be checked while the task remains in view.

The browser is a task work surface inside the desktop Code workspace. It is separate from the everyday browser session on the computer. A tab can be closed or moved within the work pane, and the work pane can be opened or hidden without leaving the task.

Choose identity and access#

Open Settings → Browser to manage Browser identity, Browser windows, and Browser data by identity. Code tasks in the same project use the project-scoped browser identity. Standalone Chat uses the Chat identity, and a Shared identity can be selected deliberately when that scope is appropriate. Older per-task identities can be listed and cleared; new tabs do not silently switch to those older identities.

Site data and saved login controls are explicit. Clear site data removes the selected identity’s site state, and Forget saved logins removes stored login information for that identity. A saved password is never displayed back in settings. When an agent needs to use a site login, per-site approval remains part of the browser access decision.

Use the paired phone view#

Open browser in the mobile task top bar to view the paired desktop browser. The phone can use Back, Forward, New browser tab, and Show N browser tab(s), with additional actions such as Reload page, History, Fill saved login, and cookie controls when the desktop capability grants them. The viewport reports Live, Reconnecting, or Stopped states; unavailable controls remain disabled. This is remote control of a desktop task browser, not a cloud Code browser or a second mobile runtime.
