Chat
Start conversations, choose a model, and use message controls in the Chat workspace.
Start a conversation
Chat opens with New chat in the left sidebar. A blank conversation shows the Message… composer and an Ask anything prompt. On the web, the N shortcut starts a new chat; the desktop shortcut is Ctrl/Cmd+N. A chat receives a title as the conversation develops, and it can be renamed from the chat row menu.
The model chip beside the composer selects the model and reasoning effort for a new chat. The compact picker shows the available effort levels. Its expanded view can search models, filter by provider, show recent choices, and apply privacy filters such as Zero data retention only or No training only. Locked models remain visible with the reason they cannot be selected under the current filters or plan. Fast appears when the account and model support it.
The composer sends with Enter by default; Shift+Enter adds a line break. If Enter to send is disabled in Account settings, Ctrl/Cmd+Enter sends and Enter adds a line break. A response can be stopped while it is generating. After a reply settles, its model attribution, reasoning details when available, and source links appear with the response.
Message controls
Message actions include Copy message, Edit and resend, and Delete. Assistant replies add Copy reply, Branch the chat from this response, Regenerate for the latest reply, Edit response, Delete, and Read aloud. Branching creates a separate path from the selected response, so the original conversation remains available. Deleting a message also removes the later part of that conversation after confirmation.
A chat can belong to one project, use an agent, retrieve memory, and draw on the Files library. Search activity and sources remain visible in the transcript when a reply uses web search. The Files composer attachment control currently displays Attach (coming soon); library files are added from Files and attached to a project there.
